Randy Wood founded “Randy’s Record Shop” in 1946 in Gallatin, Tennessee. By the 1950s, Randy’s was recognized as the world’s largest mail-order record company. Mr. Wood also started Dot Records, which became the home of artists like Pat Boone, Lawrence Welk, and Gallatin’s own, Johnny Maddox. It was Mr. Maddox who cut the very first Dot single. Randy’s Record Shop remained in existence until 1991. Dot Records closed in 1978. A legend to many, Mr. Randy Woods passed away in 2011 at the age of 94.
